Rated 5 out of 5 by CookExtroidinaire from Gorgeous and Strong Gorgeous and Strong!! Generous size, classy, high quality, perfect for practically anything. I feel bad because I own proper French China and yet I still find myself reaching for Apilco Tradition Dinner Plates even during the holidays. Maybe it's because I know I can be rough with Apilco and not worry. My family owned several ramekins from Apilco and they were by far some of the most used dishes at our house. These ramekins often went into the oven on broil to make french onion soups, cheese fondue, melting butter in the microwave, or simply used when prepping food, these little ramequins were used daily for over twenty years in and out of the dish washer, rough handled on marble counter tops and not one chip even after twenty years. There's not one scratch on the ramekins and my parents passed these work horses down to me as a gift and they look brand new. When it came time to upgrade our sad, chipped, scratched, barely two years of use dinnerware, the answer was what we originally came up with which was to spend a little more and get products from Apilco. Guess we had to learn the hard way. I have a feeling this dinnerware is the end game for us. They are just so classic and durable, in love. Super easy everything about them. I like to reheat pizza by putting a slice or two in the microwave for 30 seconds (on the plate) just to jump start it, then pop it in the toaster oven directly on the plate so the plate is nice and warm too and pizza is all nice and crisp. That subtle little convenient oven friendly feature makes all the difference.Date published: 2018-03-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Swissiam from Perfect I received these as a shower gift 7 years ago and they are still going strong! There are zero scratches or chips on my plates. As a matter if fact, this is the first brand of dishes I have ever had that did not scratch with steak knives! French quality can be seen in these.Date published: 2018-02-07Rated 1 out of 5 by ELiz from Disappointed I've been happy with WS products in the past, but I'm very disappointed with this dinner set. I've only had it about a year and already several bowls and plates are chipped. They look nice, but they are not as durable as I had hoped.Date published: 2017-09-17Rated 5 out of 5 by ScottMichael from Elegant and durable. I have owned Apilco dinnerware for greater than 10 years and Apilco bakeware for even longer (my lasagna pan is almost 20yrs old). I have had the same set that I originally purchased and I use their plates every day. Apilco is expensive, however, it's incredibly durable and you can buy it piecemeal to defer the cost. I have never broken anything that they have made...and yes, I have dropped their plates a few times. How many plates are on the market that are durable enough to bake in the oven (yes, the OVEN), yet elegant enough for entertaining? It's very convenient to be able to use their Au Gratin plates to bake potatoes Au Gratin, in the oven, and then be able to serve them at the table on the same plates! Apilco does have one flaw that any potential buyer should be aware of. They can stain. If you want your gleaming white plates to remain as such, rinse them if you aren't going to run the dishwasher for a while, especially, if you had red pasta sauce on them!Date published: 2016-12-18Rated 5 out of 5 by JPPhilly from Solid plate This plate is solid, sturdy, ample in size and it dresses up or casuals down as needed. The plate does not show silverware marks, it is beautiful and exactly what we were looking for. The plate has some heft to it, the size is more than enough, almost slightly larger than it needs to be. Highly recommended.Date published: 2016-10-03Rated 5 out of 5 by mamakane from our family's daily plates i registered for these when I got married 10 years ago. We love them they are durable, food looks beautiful on them, they still look new and with four kids we have not broken any!Date published: 2014-08-31Rated 5 out of 5 by AtlasPacific from Best Quality Classic Service These French styled dishes are the ultimate. The cost is staggering but the quality and design is unmatched. I bought the first of my collection in Paris and kicked myself for not buying more at the time. I use the Tres Grande salad plates for dinner service and they are perfect for today's lite portions. Any foods look terrific on these as well as a joy to eat from with the secure finish. If you want the ultimate in white, these are it.Date published: 2013-01-30Rated 5 out of 5 by becadoodle from 16 months and still going strong I bought these plates, as well as bowls, B&B plates, etc., for my wife last Christmas. We use them every day and after countless runs through the dishwasher not a chip, discoloration or scratch. Very durable and make every meal seem like a special occasion.Date published: 2012-04-12
