Rated 5 out of 5 by AmberBakesALot from Just what I needed! I bought this scoop to add to my jar of epsom bath salts. It's lightweight and not too big (I bought the 5 oz. size) compared to the jar.Date published: 2019-08-22Rated 5 out of 5 by skyisa from Love it! Do not put in dishwasher! I love this scoop for getting flour out of a canister. It has a nice grip and is easy to use. I know better than to put an aluminum scoop into the dishwasher but my husband did not. Lol. Of course it turned black and I will be getting a new one pronto. I recommend the scoop but one should definitely hand wash as needed.Date published: 2018-11-17Rated 1 out of 5 by MRSCHE from NOT DISHWASHER SAFE I bought two of these at the Glen Mill, PA store for scooping ice and bird seed and put them in the dishwasher before use. They are not dishwasher safe, and the online listing clearly states that, but since I didn't purchase online, I didn't notice in the store any signs on special care needed. My fault totally. I just want to warn others. They turned black in the dishwasher and the black residue came off on anything they touched. I had to trash them.Date published: 2018-04-24Rated 5 out of 5 by Meredith from Great scoop for dry goods I've had a few of these for quite a while and use them to dispense the contents of my large glass canisters: flour, sugar, oatmeal, rice. When necessary, I wipe them with a soapy sponge, rinse, and wipe dry. They look exactly the same as the day I bought them! The care instructions clearly state that these are to be HAND WASHED. Dishwasher detergent (which has different ingredients than hand wash dish soap) will react with this aluminum scoop, so all the negative reviews about the product turning black in the dishwasher are most likely due to user error, not the quality of the product. If you are in need of a scoop for a use that would necessitate more than hand washing, a stainless steel or plastic scoop would be more appropriate.Date published: 2017-03-28Rated 1 out of 5 by Judy from Don't waste your money. Put this in the dishwasher and it turned black. Will not clean. Don't waste your money.Date published: 2017-03-26Rated 5 out of 5 by Ron123 from Super Scooper I ordered 3 of the scoops (one of each size) but one is on back order. They arrived on time and good condition. They appear to be of solid aluminum so they are very strong but light. I am really pleased with them and will probably order more.Date published: 2015-09-29Rated 5 out of 5 by DontMakeMeCook from Love my metal scoop! I bought my scoop on sale at the MV store, and I was happy to see they are available online, as well, because I bought the last one in the store. When I read reviews of the scoop I had to chuckle because some people complain about things regardless of what the manufacturer states about their product. In this I mean that the scoop supposedly turns black in the dishwasher. So, it's fairly easy to deduce that you should wash it by hand. Honestly, is it that difficult! I use my scoop for our smoker pellets that we keep in a galvanized covered can outside. Yesterday, I used the same scoop to spread 4 large bags of pebbles in one of our garden areas. I was leary that it might break shoveling so much weight, but it didn't even nick the edges, much less break under pressure. Mind you, I don't usually write such lengthy reviews, especially for a simple, lowly metal scoop, but the whiners inspired me. Now, off to order an additional scoop.Date published: 2015-09-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Greek from Big scoop great for certain applications So I read a comment that scoop turns black in dishwasher. Two things hand wash it or enjoy the patina. My friend washed hers in dishwasher and loves the look. This is too big for everyday cooking application unless you are a professional baker. Great for dog food, potting soil, fertilizer, etc. I like mine a lot.Date published: 2015-08-18
