The pan serves as an all-in-one performer for sautéing, searing, braising, sauce-making, and even deep-frying. Great for cooks of all skill levels, the pan is from All-Clad’s original three-layer bonded Stainless Steel cookware line, which pairs classic style with modern practicality. A new capacity engraving on the base makes for quick identification, and an improved ergonomic handle ensures comfort.

- Ergonomic, riveted stainless-steel handle stays cool on the cooktop.
- Pan size etched on base.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Panzrwagn from Saute Pans Are Not Skillets! Saute pans have higher sides for two very good reasons: 1) Sautéing tends to be a splattery proposition and the higher sides help limit the mess. 2) The higher sides help retain moisture. They also have more cooking area than the equivalent size skillet with its smaller flat cooking space and flared sides. On the other hand, I would never recommend a saute' pan for an omelet or frittata because it would be too difficult to get underneath it cleanly. I use this pan several times a week. Chicken, pork chops, scallops, shrimp, filet (the only meat I don't usually grille), all get sautéed. For one-pan meals it's absolutely the go to pan. I own 5, in 2, 3, and 5 quart, from 3 different manufacturers. All are very good to excellent, but if I could only have one, it would be the All-Clad. Buy right and you only have to buy once.Date published: 2014-04-04Rated 5 out of 5 by Serendipity472 from Nice pan but not for me I really liked this pan and its tall sides but realized that the 101/2 inch base gave me no more room than my fry pan. I'm giving it 5 stars even though I didn't use it because I'm sure if this is the size you want/need you will likely be happy. I returned it and purchased an All-Clad 5 qt saute instead.Date published: 2013-12-04
