- Banana Foster French Toast Recipe
Preheat an oven to 200ºF.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, cinnamon, milk, 1 Tbs. of the brown sugar and a pinch of salt until well combined. Pour half of the egg mixture into a deep pie dish. Soak 1 bread slice, turning once, for 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a plate. Repeat with the remaining bread and egg mixture. Gently pour any remaining egg mixture over the bread until absorbed.
In an 11-inch French skillet over medium heat, melt 1 1/2 Tbs. of the butter. Add 2 bread slices and cook, turning once, until golden, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Transfer to a wire cooling rack set over a baking sheet and keep warm in the oven. Repeat with 1 1/2 Tbs. of the butter and the remaining bread.
In a 9-inch French skillet over medium-high heat, melt the remaining 3 Tbs. butter. Add the bananas and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes. Carefully pour in the rum, then add the remaining 5 Tbs. brown sugar, the vanilla bean paste, water and a pinch of salt. Stir to coat the bananas evenly. Simmer until the bananas are soft and the sauce is thickened, 2 to 3 minutes.
Transfer the French toast to individual plates and top with the bananas. Serve immediately. Serves 4.

For those that claim eggs stick in these pans, they are wrong. My omelettes slide right out. Better than my old non stick Calphalon pans. Scrambled eggs turn out awesome too. Clean up isn't bad. I hand wash in soapy hot water and it's not bad at all. I'd say equivalent to any other pan. Pans have a very nice weight and look Amazing. You will not regret this purchase. Only used a handful of times and each time I wipe to dry the pan, silver dust follows. Cooked eggs in them last, only to taste like I was eating metal. Called All-Clad and they said this is normal from oxidation. First off, I have owned some Cuisinart stainless steel pots for over 15 years and never have had this happen! So I guess is is ok to eat metal with your food. I have 2 saucepans from All-clad and LOVE them! They are about 15 yrs old each and still absolutely perfect. I bought these french skillets and a new larger saucepan - the D5 series - never suspecting there was such a difference in quality. They cook great but are an absolute bear to clean. Even steaming broccoli requires 15 min of scrubbing residue off the insides of the pans and making pancakes in the skillets was even worse - 20 minutes and I had to resort to barkeeper's friend! I am a seasoned & skilled cook - these pans are awful. Only buy if you enjoy spending lots of time scrubbing. Done with the "new" all-clad and their customer service is dismal. They could not have cared less about feedback. Controlled, even heating, beautiful smooth surface with clean release of everything so far, including fried eggs and scrambles with sautéed veggies, onions, sausage, and cheese. 9" diameter cooking surface of 11" pan is perfect size for 3-egg omelets and the smaller pan is perfect for 2-eggers. Clean-up is a breeze: let pan cool, soak for a minute, wipe off with soapy sponge. Perfect -- except for the uncomfortable U-shaped handle. Why All-Clad persists in this unloved design mystifies me. Does using non stick cooking spray ruin this pan? would nonstick spray work on this pan or must i use oil?Hi cookinglight, All-Clad advises to not use aerosol spray oils on your nonstick cookware but it should be fine to use on stainless-steel interiors. Here are some tips on how to cook with oils to ensure that food doesn't stick in your All-Clad pan: A preheated pan and lower flames are the key to stick-free stainless steel cooking. Preheat your pan on low or medium heat for one to two minutes. Tap the upper edge of your pan to test the heat. (If it is too hot, remove from the burner for a couple of minutes.) Pour 2-3 teaspoons of cold oil in your preheated pan-or enough to cover the bottom of the cooking surface. Add food, making sure that there is an even sizzling sound when your food touches the pan. This indicates that your food is cooking on contact and creating a natural barrier to prevent sticking. Allow food to cook without disturbing it until the correct doneness is achieved. The natural sugars in your food caramelize on the cooked surface, developing great flavours and lifting your food off of the cooking surface naturally. If the sound that food makes on initial contact with the pan is more of a crackle than a sizzle, your heat is too high and sticking may occur. All-Clad recommends low to medium heat for frying, braising, sautéing and simmering because All-Clad is ideally crafted to hold heat.Date published: 2019-06-09
