Rated 4 out of 5 by CLWHCT from Great individual mills These are great for fresh salt and pepper at the table. They aren't for cooking because of their size. One of my guests loved using them this summer and I'm giving them to her as a hostess gift.Date published: 2015-11-21Rated 1 out of 5 by Sber from Dissapointing I put these on my wedding registry and received them as a gift. These mills are very narrow and unstable. Forget about putting them down on a tablecloth or placemat, they fall over constantly and don't hold that much. During the first week of use, after many falls, the mill fell on its side and the clear part cracked! For a mill that is so heavy, it should have a wider base. I assumed WS would only carry a quality product - now the gift one of my best friends got us for our wedding is something we have to get rid of. Even besides the falling, the product is really lackluster - I'm no longer buying anything from WS unless I can double check reviews somewhere else.Date published: 2015-09-18Rated 1 out of 5 by SnowEgg from Poor choice for table or kitchen This mill is not good for cooking nor is it good to use on the table. It doesn't hold much pepper. It doesn't grind much pepper with each push yet takes a lot of pressure. You'll wear out your thumb grinding half a teaspoon of pepper. The push button comes unscrewed so you have to keep tightening it. Worst, it is topheavy and tips over easily--you have to be careful even when mindfully setting it down or it will go over with a sharp and loud thwack because it's metal and heavy. When falling down it could easily chip a plate, crack a wine glass, or flip a small plate in the air. A simple bump of the table is plenty to tip it over. Thus a bad choice to put on the table for a meal unless you want to set up your guests for embarrassment. Avoid.Date published: 2014-12-15Rated 3 out of 5 by Kristimg from Love the look, but disappointed I brought these 3 years ago in San Diego. I thought they were expensive but I loved the way they look! They are used everyday and last month all the peppercorns spilled out onto my husband's eggs, ruining the dish. It was impossible to pick them all out of the uncooked omelet. The threads just wore out? I will replace it with a new one as I said, I love the look.Date published: 2014-11-12Rated 3 out of 5 by pms1228 from pretty but doesn't come out well i'm surprised at the other reviews. I bought these because of the reviews but found salt and/or pepper does not come out well. I can't imagine using them for seasoning while cooking as the amount coming out is very small. am I doing something wrong?Date published: 2014-09-02Rated 5 out of 5 by bakeneat from Small and mighty S&P mills I love these little mills. Easy to use, especially when you are trying to stir and add salt or pepper. My guests who have the opportunity to use mine always want to know where to buy a set. I have bought several as housewarming gifts with comments about how much they like the mills continuing long after receipt.Date published: 2013-10-27Rated 5 out of 5 by ItalianCoffeeLover from Perfect for cooking I've gone through several one-handed mills. All were either poor construction or only dispensed a small amount. I was tempted by the electric ones here but didn't want another gadget that needed batteries. Then recently I saw these. I only got the pepper mill (I still love to crush salt with my fingers) and it ticks all the boxes. Easy to use thumb pump and a generous amount comes out with each pump. So generous I'm weary of using this for seasoning food at the table. But I bought it for seasoning while cooking and for this it's perfect. The only unknown is how easy it is to fill as I haven't had to do that yet. And given its narrow construction, I imagine it won't be that easy. But given this isn't something I'll have to do often, I'm willing to put up with it.Date published: 2013-09-16Rated 5 out of 5 by SteveP2001 from Great Table Grinders The weird news first: these have the worst product name at WS "Pump and Grind" Salt & Pepper mills. The good news is that the name is not listed on the mills so it won't lead to uncomfortable dinner conversation. These are a perfect size for the table: both in the relatively small quantity of salt/pepper they dispense (a good 'shake' worth), and in that they are smaller than they look in the photograph and fit and operate easily in one hand. They are NOT suitable for grinding recipe quantities, but if you are looking for attractive grinders for the table that won't be large and obnoxious like the mill the over enthusiastic Olive Garden waiter brings out, then this is a good option. We live by the ocean and usually only have salt and pepper on table for company. Grinding is a better option than shakers to prevent clumping, and battery operated mills with kids in the house...well, that's asking for trouble. The clean lines and simple construction fit the bill very well.Date published: 2013-03-15
