- More about Le Creuset
The first Le Creuset foundry opened in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France, and specialized in cast-iron cookware. The cast-iron pieces are still made at the original factory, using the traditional techniques of hand forging and casting in individual sand molds. The brightly pigmented porcelain-enamel glaze that first set Le Creuset cookware apart from other cast-iron cookware now comes in a wide range of traditional and contemporary colors. In 2013, Le Creuset began producing innovative stainless-steel cookware in Portugal with lids that incorporate the same signature three-ring design as the company’s classic cast-iron pieces. This stainless-steel collection was awarded the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Award for product design.
Rated 4 out of 5 by JJManhattan from Fragile, handle with care, good for oven I have used it several times to cook things in the oven. The lid is great but is also fragile, I feel like I will crack it every time I place it on the square baker. So far so good, I got it in red, and it has a touch of oranginess to it. Wish it was .5 inch deeper.Date published: 2018-08-24Rated 4 out of 5 by Watkins from Le Creuset Stoneware I bought this 1 week before Christmas. I used it 1 time and it shattered into pieces. I have several others pieces of Le Creuset that I have had for years and have never had an issue. I had to order another replacement piece and have it delivered next day service. Was not happy about that. I sent Willams Sonoma a message along with a picture. CricketsDate published: 2018-01-05Rated 5 out of 5 by GretchenE from Great size I have 5 of theses now. I really like the size and the fact that they have a lid! I miss won over by a lid every time. In case anyone is wondering, the "French gray " is , I am assuming, gray mist as well because it came in a box mark gray mist and the item had a sticker on it that said gray mist. Thought that might be helpful for another as I was trying to figure out how they were different.Date published: 2017-08-10Rated 5 out of 5 by MrsEddy from Love this baker! This is a very versatile baker. I love it! I have one of my own and have gifted this to several people as well. Definitely worth the cost. I have noticed that many people said it's not authentic Le Creuset because it's not made in France. I must make a note that I have many stoneware pieces of Le Creuset and not one of them was made in France. Perhaps they don't make stroneware products in France for the company. My dutch oven is the only piece I own from Le Creuset that was made in France. That being said, the quality still seems excellent and has held up very well. I've had mine for a year with zero problems and I purchased one for my mother three years ago and it's her go to casserole baker for events.Date published: 2017-07-20Rated 4 out of 5 by annecraig from BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT AND BAKES NICELY As a longtime Le Creuset cast iron devotee, I bought this with some hesitation knowing it is manufactured in China. Indeed, where the 'outsourcing' is quite obvious is with the lid which does not stay in place. Otherwise I would have given this 5 stars.Date published: 2017-04-09Rated 5 out of 5 by mshipleyfl from Great Dish for smaller portions This dish is great for a smaller casserole! Cooks evenly and looks great!Date published: 2017-02-09Rated 5 out of 5 by BakerNewbie from The One That Started It All... The midnight blue square baker was my first Le Creuset and I'm already collecting more LC pieces! Perfect overall size for a small family sized casserole, mashed potatoes, candied yams, roasted veggies. Super easy to clean and fits perfectly in my conventional oven. I love the covered baker so much, I ordered one in Red! Can't believe I waited so long to get one....how did I go through life previously without this?!Date published: 2017-02-07Rated 5 out of 5 by Maealyce from LOVE IT, Perfect size This is the perfect size I was looking for. The color is really pretty and I will get a lot of use out of it. Highly recommend this. High quality baker.Date published: 2017-01-27
