- More about Le Creuset
The first Le Creuset foundry opened in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France, and specialized in cast-iron cookware. The cast-iron pieces are still made at the original factory, using the traditional techniques of hand forging and casting in individual sand molds. The brightly pigmented porcelain-enamel glaze that first set Le Creuset cookware apart from other cast-iron cookware now comes in a wide range of traditional and contemporary colors. In 2013, Le Creuset began producing innovative stainless-steel cookware in Portugal with lids that incorporate the same signature three-ring design as the company’s classic cast-iron pieces. This stainless-steel collection was awarded the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Award for product design.

Le Creuset Cleaning Brush
Rated 5 out of 5 by dnblume from Perfect cooking AND cleaning on the first use! I registered for all Staub pieces, but added this Le Creuset grill pan because of the perfect size. It sits perfectly on our oval gas burner. Just used it for the first time to grill chicken! I poured a little grapeseed oil on the pan while it was heating up and wiped away excess oil. Then threw some lightly seasoned chicken on and waited to turn the chicken until there was a good sear on one side - no sticking! It took a little longer to cook (30 minutes) than usual because I kept it at low-medium heat to avoid scorching. I think too high of a heat is what burned residue onto my other cast iron pan, which made it hard to clean!! But once the chicken was done, I poured some hot water onto the pan and gently scrubbed off stuck-on residue and let it boil for a few mins. After letting the pan cool, then I rinsed it off in the sink, dried it, and wiped another thin layer of oil on it to store (see my photo for what it looks like AFTER I cleaned it!). Followed the example of so many other reviewers and it's perfect!Date published: 2018-07-24Rated 1 out of 5 by nrob from Wanted to Love - but cannnot I purchased this grill a while ago and have never been able to completely clean it - some type of black crust has built up which is unable to be removed. Not sure if it is a sprayed coating or 100% cast iron coating?? The last two times I have used, the kitchen fills with smoke and the smoke alarm goes off. I like to indoor grill, but I can't go forward with a house of smoke. I stopped in to local WS and asked if anyone else experienced similar issues but the associate wasn't aware. Surely I cannot be the only one who is having this problem. I believe if you grill simple food - especially without any type of marinade or sauce - you will be fine. Otherwise, after a few uses - open a window and be prepared!Date published: 2018-07-12Rated 5 out of 5 by jycee from Best Indoor Grill that requires some education Even though i'm used to cast iron, this one posed a challenge...like others i had a tough time with the cleaning part. it's enameled and pre seasoned, no? so i kinda forgot about this grill and rediscovered it while reorganizing my stack of cookware. again, i came across the same problem. yikes. then i perused these reviews and decided to properly re-season it since i must've scratched the surface trying to deep clean. off to the oven at 400deg for 2 hrs w pork fat, let it sit in oven while it cooled to polymerize the oil. today, i used a coconut oil spray to properly coat the surface, med heat, and grilled tons of stuff on it. Magic. awesome grill marks and taste. duh..why did i tuck this away?? while still warm, i put some water on it while i ate. then just a soft sponge took off any oil residue. next test will be with some marinades. i guess more you use with oil, seasoning will get better and better. my stovetop has a long double burner and this is made for it. it definitely is worth it!Date published: 2018-06-08Rated 5 out of 5 by AUL24 from Great piece if you know how to care for it! I was skeptical of this little grill given the mixed reviews, but went ahead and purchased it regardless since I needed a vessel to grill with at home. And I'm glad I did! In order to get the best results out of the pan you have to be willing to care for it correctly. I've already used it 3x in the week that I've owned it and I've had no issues whatsoever! Before it's first use, I evenly coated the grill in oil (with a paper towel) to prevent sticking and it worked like a charm. The vegetables were grilled to perfection with beautiful grill marks and the flavor was fabulous. Using the same oil coating technique, last night I grilled burgers to perfection with no sticky residue on the pan. Both the burgers and the pan came out perfect. After use I let the pan sit and cool off while I eat. Afterward I use warm water to soak the pan and a nonabrasive pad to scrub off any little bits of food. Voila! It's just like caring for any other piece of le creuset cookware.Date published: 2018-05-20Rated 1 out of 5 by Greenidqr from so disappointed -_- I was so excited to get this, totally love the pink! thought by this being le creuset food wouldn't stick, it's just as bad as the plain ol black cast iron griddle I have. worked great cooking the hot dogs, the pork steaks - forget it. wish I had read the reviews, I will be returning it.Date published: 2018-03-27Rated 1 out of 5 by BCRS from Not worth it I usually love Le Creuset, but this grill is just not worth the price tag. I don’t see any improvement on cooking on this vs any other grill. And to clean this is a huge hassle, just like any other cast iron grill. It is no better (at all!) than my IKEA cast iron grill or the one that came with the stove.Date published: 2018-03-21Rated 4 out of 5 by ChefMay from You can blame your stove or... You can blame your stove or you can blame the Skinny Grill pan for not being compatible for each other. Upon purchasing this pan, I knew that heat would not evenly distribute across the entire surface. So, I avoid cooking on either edges as they tend to be cooler. I cook in small portions, it does eat up time. But, put too much on the pan and your food will not cook to the perfect temperature. I like to use this pan for vegetables and searing meat. For veges., it is nice that you can “render” out excess water that can make veges soggy. For searing meat, it is good for getting gorgeous grill marks and also helps the meat stay moist and juicy. This pan gets hot fast, even at medium high fire the pan can increase in temperature so watch your fire...lower it when you see the pan getting too smokey and then return back to medium high setting. As far as cleaning goes, I haven’t had a problem. I always let it cool and wash it right away. I like to lightly spray it with oil after washing/drying. Surprisingly, the bottom hasn’t gotten any scratches or stains (from heat). I think I’ve been very careful with all of my Le Creuset pieces, as I’m pretty obsessed with its looks. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if anything terrible happened to any of my precious Le Creuset! Haha! So, I wouldn’t really recommend any highly priced, enamel coated cookware to anyone who isn’t willing to truly give TLC to it. It really is a commitment to take care of these pieces. Other than that, just stick to good old Lodge cast iron cookware. But even with that brand, one would still need to give it some care. Honestly, I only bought this pan because I wanted more pink Le Creuset cast iron to grow my collection! Haha! Still, it does put out beautiful dinners!Date published: 2018-03-12Rated 4 out of 5 by Mom23 from Like new with a cleaning tip I bought this for my daughter to use in her apartment a year ago. The size and weight are perfect. She uses it several times a week for chicken and vegetables. I have numerous Le Creuset for years and clean outside and in with Barkeepers cooktop liquid cleaner. Be sure to use the cooktop cleanser and may need to allow cleanser to sit awhile before scrubbing with a nonabrasive pad. Works very well. All my pieces and my daughter’s skinny grill look brand new. Mine aren’t matte and the skinny grill is red, so I’m not sure if matte colors are harder to clean.Date published: 2018-01-12
