Classic Shore Dinner
The shore dinner is a more refined version of the classic clambake, an adaptation of the Native American tradition of cooking in a stone-lined pit. Our stovetop clambake preserves all the fun of the classic method without all the fuss.
Begin the festivities with the perfect Ramos Fizz for the adults, and fresh honey lemonade for the kids. Offer bite-size cherry tomatoes filled with herbed goat cheese. These colorful appetizers look lovely arranged on a platter—and taste delicious when you pop one into your mouth.
When it's time to serve the shellfish, pile it high on big platters and pass it family-style. Make sure you have enough tools on hand for cracking the lobster, along with plenty of napkins. Accompany the shellfish with little red potatoes, corn on the cob and rolls with sweet butter.
When the sun is finally setting on Cape Cod, along the Minnesota lakes, on the Pacific coast or wherever you may be, offer peaches Foster for dessert. We like to serve it in stemmed glasses for the dramatic effect, not to mention the generous servings. It's summertime and the eating is easy!
