A classic cocktail that dates from the early twentieth century, the Jack Rose is made using applejack, which makes it a natural match for autumn entertaining. Be sure to use a high-quality small-batch grenadine, such as the ones made by Small Hand Foods or Jack Rudy Cocktail Co. Many inexpensive versions are made primarily from high-fructose corn syrup and flavorings.

Ingredients:

  • Ice as needed
  • 2 oz. (60 ml) applejack
  • 1 oz. (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. (20 ml) small-batch grenadine

Directions:

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the applejack, lime juice and grenadine. Cover, shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Serve immediately. Serves 1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Perfect November Cocktail Very easy to make and can prep ahead in large batches for serving a crowd. It's the perfect cocktail to sip while cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I floated a sliver of apple in the glass for extra pizzazz.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad.... Thought I would try this for a holiday cocktail, made one...It wasn't bad, but a little sour. Maybe that is what is suppose to be, not sure. The picture looks like it has some kind of garnish in it. Assuming and apple slice, but noticed something else in the bottom of the glass. Would anyone know?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delicious I’m making this for Thanksgiving but had to make a prototype before serving my guests, right? It’s simple and delicious. A bonus is that the antioxidants, vitaminC and alcohol make it a good choice when nursing a cold. Did I mention, it’s very pretty and tastes like the holidays.
