Broiled Grapefruit with Brown Sugar
Just enough brown sugar is sprinkled over freshly cut grapefruit halves to melt and caramelize slightly under the broiler. Use either pink or white grapefruit, depending on availability and your preference. If you wish, section the grapefruit before broiling to make it easier to eat.
Ingredients:
- 3 grapefruits, halved
- 6 Tbs. firmly packed light brown sugar
Directions:
Preheat a broiler and adjust the rack so it is about 4 inches from the heat source.
Arrange the grapefruit halves, cut side up, on a broiler pan. Sprinkle each half with 1 Tbs. of the brown sugar. Broil until the sugar is melted and starting to bubble, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the broiler and serve immediately. Serves 6.
