Rated 1 out of 5 by Allcooks from small and difficult I bought this sifter to replace my mother's spring loaded aluminum sifter. First off the volume of flour you can sift at any given time is less than one cup. Secondly the tension on the spring loaded handle is very stiff so by the time you have sifted 3-4 cups (multiple batches), you hand is killing you. The screens are difficult to clean.Date published: 2017-01-13Rated 1 out of 5 by amedas from Flour Sifter I came on line to Sonoma to find a better sifter and low and behold it is the SAME ONE I am having trouble with!!! I had forgotten where I had bought it, as I do not use it much and have had it for about 2 years. It "was" purchased here. The flour is caked between the screens and I cannot get it out. It stopped sifting my 2 cups of flour and it ruined my recipe for lack of sifting I am having the exact same problems as the rest of the ladies! It is suppose to be dishwasher safe..but it is already rusting :-(Date published: 2016-12-23Rated 1 out of 5 by cherelle from Not good at all I used to have a hand crank sifter but didn't like that it would shoot flour up in my face as I was using it. I remembered my late mother had an ancient "squeeze" handle sifter like this one and it was awesome. I was so looking forward to having the same luck using it. Not so much! Nothing comes out of it but a dusting as everything gets stuck between the plates. I'm tossing it. Gives new meaning to the phrase "they don't make things like they used to."Date published: 2016-12-07Rated 2 out of 5 by Snowoman from Doesn't work well I had a a hand crank sifter that I've been using for years. I thought I would try this one for something different. First thing I noticed, you can only sift a little bit of flour at a time or it will jam between the screens and you will be sifting for a long time. Since it has two screens the flour would get caught between the screens and around the metal, so I had to move the sifter around to loosen the last of the flour. Second, it's a pain to clean. I threw this sifter in the trash and went back to the traditional hand crank sifter.Date published: 2016-08-08Rated 2 out of 5 by ElsieRows from Returned for the traditional flour sifter I used this product once and when I went to sift powdered sugar with it, the handle kept sticking and coming off of the track which made it unusable. I ended up returning this product and buying the traditional flour sifter (i haven't used it yet) so hopefully the traditional flour sifter will work out better for my baking needs.Date published: 2016-06-09Rated 5 out of 5 by tamismiles from Great Sifter Love this! It is made so well, easy to clean, and it has made all the difference in the texture of my cookies. I love it!Date published: 2015-03-26Rated 1 out of 5 by vlk82454 from Stuff gets caught between screens Bought this and used it about 10 times then noticed a lot of "stuff" caught btw the screens. I tried to clean it several times, but could not get out the crud. Washed it with hot water, no help. Tried to dis-assemble the mechanism to remove the outer screen, but it was futile. I ended up throwing it in the trash rather than try to return it. Don't waste your money on this one. Poor quality, poor craftsmanship. Big PassDate published: 2015-02-19
