The Living Seed Company donates seeds to school garden programs, youth groups and other suitable charities.

Chantenay Carrot:

  • Crunchy and sweet, this heirloom variety is one of the best for eating raw. Whole young carrots are perfect for crudités, while mature carrots may be pureed into a delicate spring soup or added to a mixed salad.
  • Roots grow to 5” long and 2” in diameter.
  • Approx. 50-65 days to harvest.
  • Requires full sun or partial shade.
  • Approx. 600 seeds per packet.
  • Sow indoors 3-4 weeks before last frost or direct sow when soil is workable. Plant in fertile, sandy, well-drained soil.
  • Plant seeds 1/8”-1/4” deep; thin seedlings to 16”-24” apart.

Kentucky Wonder Bean:

  • A classic variety prized for its crispness and rich flavor. It is delicious sautéed or added to pasta dishes and perfect for drying and pickling.
  • Vine grows to 96” long.
  • Approx. 65 days to harvest.
  • Requires full to partial sun.
  • Approx. 40 seeds per packet.
  • Direct sow after last frost in well-drained soil.
  • Plant seeds 1”-1 1/2” deep; thin seedlings to 1”-3” apart.

Lemon Cucumber:

  • Named for its distinctive color and shape, this mild and sweet thin-skinned cucumber can be eaten unpeeled. Toss with vinegar for a simple salad or add to sandwiches and cold soups for a refreshing crunch.
  • Vine grows to 96” long.
  • Approx. 60-70 days to harvest.
  • Requires full sun.
  • Approx. 25 seeds per packet.
  • Direct sow 2-3 weeks after last frost in fertile, well-drained soil.
  • Plant seeds 1/2” deep; thin seedlings to 18” apart.

Genovese Basil:

  • This popular sweet basil is a favorite for pesto. It is delicious in soups and sandwiches and classic in a summer caprese salad.
  • Grows to 24” tall.
  • Approx. 50-80 days to harvest.
  • Requires full sun.
  • Approx. 200 seeds per packet.
  • Sow indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost or outdoors after last frost. Plant in well-drained soil.
  • Plant seeds 1/8”-1/4” deep; thin seedlings to 6”-10” apart.

Merveille des Quatre Saisons Lettuce:

  • A beautiful mix of red, bronze and green, this French heirloom is crisp, tender and flavorful, perfect for a simple, lightly dressed salad.
  • Grows to 10” tall.
  • Approx. 30-70 days to harvest.
  • Requires full to partial sun.
  • Approx. 600 seeds per packet.
  • Sow indoors 3-6 weeks before last frost or direct sow after soil is workable. Plant in fertile, sandy, well-drained soil.

California Wonder Sweet Pepper:

  • This thick-walled bell may be harvested when green and slightly bitter or after ripened to a sweeter red. Roast and marinate for dressings, toss into stir fries or stuff with herbs and grains.
  • Grows to 24” tall.
  • Approx. 65-80 days to harvest.
  • Requires full sun.
  • Approx. 25 seeds per packet.
  • Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil.
  • Plant seeds 1/4” deep; thin seedlings to 18”-24” apart.

Bull’s Blood Beet:

  • Deep burgundy leaves top solid red beets that have a sweet, earthy flavor. Roots are delicious roasted, paired with soft cheeses or peppery greens; leaves make a wonderful addition to pizzas or sautés.     
  • Grows to 12” tall.
  • Approx. 30-55 days days to harvest.
  • Requires full sun or partial shade.
  • Approx. 100 seeds per packet.
  • Direct sow two weeks before last frost. Plant in rich, loamy, well-drained soil.
  • Plant seeds 1/2” deep; thin seedlings to 4”-6” apart.

Yellow Crookneck Summer Squash:

  • Mild and tender, yellow crookneck is versatile and nutritious. Its buttery flavor complements cheeses and egg dishes and is perfect for stews and pastas.
  • Vine grows to 168” long.
  • Approx. 90-100 days to harvest.
  • Requires full sun.
  • Approx. 30 seeds per packet.
  • Sow indoors 2-3 weeks before last frost or direct sow after last frost. Plant in fertile, slightly acidic, well-drained soil.

Bloomsdale Spinach:

  • Buttery, slightly sweet and crunchy, this beautifully ruffled American heirloom is delicious raw or cooked. Add to a frittata, fold into rice dishes or simply toss with a vinaigrette.
  • Grows to 8” tall.
  • Approx. 48-60 days to harvest.
  • Requires full sun.
  • Approx. 400 seeds per packet.
  • Direct sow 4-8 weeks before last frost or when ground is workable. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil.

Juane Flamme Saladette Tomato

  • Small, apricot-colored French heirloom with a well-balanced fruity flavor. Low juice content makes this an excellent tomato for sauces, salads, drying and roasting.
  • Grows to 72” tall.
  • Approx. 70-80 days to harvest.
  • Requires full sun.
  • Approx. 25 seeds per packet.
  • Sow indoors six weeks before last frost or direct sow when soil is workable. Plant in fertile, slightly acidic, well-drained soil.

This item is shipped from our warehouse by UPS to arrive within five business days of our receiving your order.

Next Day Delivery

For an additional charge of $17.50 per address, we can expedite delivery to most destinations. This service is not available for some oversize items, items shipped directly from the supplier (including perishable and custom-manufactured items), out-of-stock items and items to be shipped outside the contiguous 48 states.

Orders recieved by 9:00 p.m., Eastern time, Monday through Thursday will arrive the next business day; orders placed Friday thorugh Sunday will arrive on the following Tuesday.

Return Policy

To help with holiday gift giving, we are extending our return policy between 10/30/2014 and 12/24/2014. If you or a recipient are not satisfied with a gift purchased during this time, present a gift or original receipt by 1/31/2015.

At Williams-Sonoma, we take great pride in the quality and craftsmanship of our products. Attention to design, materials, safety and construction are our priority. Upon receipt, please inspect your purchase and notify us of any damage; we will arrange for a prompt replacement.

If within 30 days, you are dissatisfied for any reason, you may return your purchase for a refund of the merchandise value. An original receipt or gift receipt is required for all returns and exchanges. Returns with a gift receipt will be refunded in the form of a Merchandise Credit for the amount indicated on the gift receipt. Returns with original receipt will be refunded in the original form of payment, cash and check refunds over $100 will be issued as a company check (may take 14 business days from time of request).

We cannot accept returns on monogrammed, personalized, special-order items, custom upholstery, items shipped direct from the vendor, or on items damaged through normal wear and tear. Final sale items ending in .97 or .99 cannot be returned.
