- To ensure a precise coffee/water contact time, a cone-shaped brew basket funnels the grind to the perfect bed depth.
- Operation is simple – just fill the brew basket, add water and press the power switch.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Tina from Falls short I bought this coffee maker a little over a year ago. It does brew a great cup of coffee. Unfortunately the carafe does not keep the coffee hot at all. Also, the clear plastic part where you pour the water in is discolored over time. At the price for this coffee make I was very disappointed.Date published: 2017-02-12Rated 5 out of 5 by minneapolisguy from Best Ever Coffee Maker This is by far the Best coffee maker I have ever had and highly recommend it. The only draw back is the carafe, it needs to be updated to keep the coffee hotter. I replaced it with a different carafe which took care of that. I use the original carafe for when I have company. It is fine for short term. I bought this because of how well it brews the coffee and the taste is superb to any I have ever used so that is why I am giving it 5 stars!Date published: 2017-01-23Rated 1 out of 5 by Unfortunatelyunhappy from Coffee not hot, plastic flimsy. This machine does brew super fast, but the coffee is not piping hot. We have read the manual thinking we may have missed a step, but we weren't. We warm the thermos with boiling water, yet the coffee still comes out warm but not hot (I have not had this experience with other thermal carafes). I really wanted to love this machine, but for the price, am truly sorry I bought it.Date published: 2017-01-04Rated 5 out of 5 by JPPhilly from Best coffee & durable machine Before this machine, we replaced our coffee maker every 3 or so years, they never lasted that long. Not with the Technivorm, we have owned this brewer for 9 years. The machine brews a quick pot of coffee. It is delicious and hot. After 1/2 hour the carafe coffee gets cooler. This is not a defect of this product but rather just how it is with thermal carafes, regardless of brand. I recently contacted Technivorm. I saw a sale, 20% off, around Christmas time and was tempted to buy another one to lock in the sale price. I asked Technivorm about longevity. They said it is built for a lifetime. If it fails they will fix it for free (under warranty ones) or a nominal fee if its outside the warranty period. For now I am going to see long this machine will last, 9,10,15 or more years..... who knows. Many many more years of great coffee from this machine for sure.Date published: 2016-12-03Rated 4 out of 5 by pauligan from Still love it after 15 years I bought mine from directly from Holland back in 2001 before they were readily available in the USA. It was rated the best at the time. Have been through many iterations of coffee over the years since: pour over, vintage percolator, french press, aeropress, melitta small pot for travel purposes, vintage sunbeam coffeemaster, glass stovetop pyrex. And, loved all of them, but have always circled back to this Moccamaster. Yes, the arm did rust (I cleaned it well and still just use it), I've lost the screw on lid, scoured out coffee stains with barkeepers friend, it's moved 9 times (literally) and it still works like a champ. And the filtered coffee is just too easy to clean up.Date published: 2016-10-08Rated 2 out of 5 by ENC30 from METALLIC TASTE; WON'T MAKE 10 CUPS After much hype for Moccamaster, I decided to take the plunge and purchase this elegant machine. After using it for a few weeks however, I have encountered nothing but problems! 1) Though I've only made 10 brews, I have constantly had a metallic taste to my flat coffee. I read all the instructions, tried different ratios of coffee to water, and even called Technivorm Support to sort through this problem but could never get rid of the metallic taste. 2) Despite the water tank holding "10 cups" of water, you will--at maximum--produce 5 or 6 cups. 3) Though the recommended ratio of coffee to water is 7 scoops for the 10 cups of water (2 Tbsp for every 1 cup or 6 fl. oz of water), the filter basket barely has enough room to hold 6 proper scoops. Once you hit 6 (or even the recommended 7!) you will start getting coffee grounds in the liquid. I wanted drip coffee, not Turkish!Date published: 2016-06-21Rated 5 out of 5 by Foodwriter from Best coffee maker ever I've owned a lot of coffee makers over the years--ranging in price from under $50 to more than $1,000. This is the first (and the only) one I've found that makes coffee on a par with what I grew up with--an old-school Chemex with paper filters, freshly ground coffee and fresh water at just the right temperature. As I understand it--the key is hidden away inside the column under the water tank--a coiled copper heating tube that brings the water to the ideal temp for brewing. Two years on--I still love it.Date published: 2016-04-11Rated 2 out of 5 by CoffeeMomAldie from Easily rusts, company says you need to replace Hi, Inside the water tank there is a metal plate, which rusts easily. The company said they sell replacements. We had this for maybe a year, the Warranty is very limited and does not cover this. We never leave water in there overnight, and in my opinion the product should not be designed where the pieces that touch water easily rust. I will be replacing with a different brand which is a shame because this was expensiveDate published: 2016-03-09
