More about Staub

Staub traces its origin to the Alsace region of France, where founder Francis Staub designed his first enameled pot while working in an old French artillery factory in 1974. With the goal of creating the perfect pot for cooking the region’s traditional hearty soups, stews and braises, he combined cast iron, the most popular material of the time, with the latest enameling technology available. Today, Staub still makes its cookware at a traditional atelier in France, casting each pot in an individual sand mold, which is heated to 800°F and destroyed after use. The exterior enamel coating is made with glass powder and mineral pigments, applied in two or three coats to generate brilliant glossy colors.

  • Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken twice I ordered this dish and it has arrived broken twice so far. Im not sure if this is more an issue with Williams-Sonoma or the dish but so far I'm still waiting for the second replacement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Staub 7 1/2x10 1/2 Ceramic Rectangular Baking Dish The inside color of this 7 1/2 x 10 1/2 baking dish is now different. I have purchased this many times in red for Christmas gifts. The inside used to be a bright white so the red and white dish looked really nice and seasonal and the recipients were very pleased with it. Since I always liked the looks of this dish I decided to purchase one for myself to use over the holidays and received it a month ago. The inside color is no longer white, even though the photo online shows that it is. It's now a tan color so the dish doesn't look as nice and definitely not as seasonal as it used to. I'm very disappointed with this change of color so I only give it 4 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Staub is the best! I received a smaller size Staub pan for Christmas and loved it so much I purchased the 13 X 17 pan. The food cooks the best in these ceramic pans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love it but it split I have 3 of these ceramic baking dishes in different sizes. They wash wonderfully, look classy, great sizes. But...I was baking fish last week at 450 degrees (they say it can go up to 572 degrees) middle shelf and the pan split right in two. Glad it was not a liquid dish. I called Staub and they said I would have to pay to send it to them and then they would inspect it and send one back not guaranteeing a color. I called William Sonoma and they said that should not have happened, sorry, we will send you another. done. I love W.S. thanks so much. Not happy with Staub customer service. Feel a company like that could be more cooperative. I even offered to send a picture of it. Nope, had to have the dish.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish it were mad anywhere but China Like the size, color (white), shape and weight of this pan; however, I was disappointed that, unlike other Staub pieces, this one was made in China. Had I known, I would not have purchased it. I didn't see this information in the online description.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what the cook ordered I needed a dish for baking cobblers and this is perfect. Allowing to turn up the heat at the very last few minutes to have a nice brown topping. It washes well. Arrives well packaged. The price was very reasonable. Will use this for some of my casseroles. A big plus it looks great on the table. I got a red one. All around I can't think of one reason not to be happy with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent for the money I purchased the 10-1/2 x 7-1/2 dish. This is a good dish to prepare brownies or small casseroles. It does not retain heat quite like my Emile Henry bakers; however, it still performs admirably. Cleanup is a snap. Since I own the Staub cocottes, I thought this, too, would be manufactured in France. Not so...Made in China. That was disappointing since I equate Staub with France. That being said, it is still a nice baker overall.
