- Ideal for use on any cooktop, including induction.
- Oven and broiler safe up to 500°F.
- For best results use low to medium heat.
- When using high heat, bring pans slowly to a high temperature.
- Use plastic, wood or nylon utensils only; metal utensils may damage the enamel.
- Enamel may chip or crack if banged against a hard surface.
- Handles and knobs can become very hot. Always use pot holder or glove when handling.
- Allow pan to cool before washing.
- Dishwasher safe.
- Stubborn stains can be removed by soaking your pot for a few minutes in hot soapy water.
- Completely dry pan before storing.
- Avoid using steel wool, steel scouring pads, harsh detergents, bleach or abrasive cleaners.

Staub traces its origin to the Alsace region of France, where founder Francis Staub designed his first enameled pot while working in an old French artillery factory in 1974. With the goal of creating the perfect pot for cooking the region’s traditional hearty soups, stews and braises, he combined cast iron, the most popular material of the time, with the latest enameling technology available. Today, Staub still makes its cookware at a traditional atelier in France, casting each pot in an individual sand mold, which is heated to 800°F and destroyed after use. The exterior enamel coating is made with glass powder and mineral pigments, applied in two or three coats to generate brilliant glossy colors.

It is absolutely perfect, and I plan to start using it in September. I will probably use it as a centerpeice on our table when I am not using it to cook in. ALL of Staub items are favorites for me, and I am sure this will be no exception. It is very attractive on the kitchen counter. I have also used it for multiple cooking purposes. It can be used in multiple ways. I use it to bake in the oven, for serving vegetables and small portions of sauce or soup. The product is easy to clean and very durable. The quality of the paint. The color is realistic....not a bright orange. A friend who also bought one noticed the same issue. Both of ours have a somewhat smooth black interior with the brighter orange ceramic glaze on the outside, not the burnt orange one, so I don't know if the interior has been improved. Plus, when stirring soup I've to be careful to get in all the crevices so nothing builds up in those areas causing lumps, burning, etc. I always put my soups through a chinois especially with this cocotte. It does look nice for the holidays, though. Even though it may say dishwasher safe, don't do it, don't even think about it. I regret running it through my Bosch dishwasher (which is a gentle wash). Although it states that it is "dishwasher safe", it dulled the interior finish which is really one of the attributes to easy clean-up. Knowing that now, I must say, that I would love to own both the "black matte" and "white" pumpkin cocotte as well; it makes such a statement on the table.
