- Jacques Ragout of White Beans
In a large pot, combine the beans with 6 cups cold water and the 1 1/2 tsp. salt. Bring to a boil and simmer gently, partially covered. After 1 hour, taste several beans to check for doneness. They should be tender to the bite but not mushy. Simmer longer if necessary.
While the beans are cooking, in a large fry pan over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the pancetta, toss to coat with the oil and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in the onions, garlic, thyme and the 1/4 tsp. pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions and garlic are soft, about 10 minutes more.
When the beans are nearly tender, stir in the pancetta-onion mixture and return to a simmer. Cook, partially covered, over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the beans are done, about 10 minutes more. Remove from the heat. Strain or ladle out any liquid covering the beans.
For a thick, creamy texture, remove 1 cup of the beans and puree in a blender or food processor; stir the puree through the rest of the beans. Adjust the seasonings as needed with salt and pepper. Just before serving, sprinkle the chopped parsley over the beans. Get the full jacques's ragout of white beans recipe.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mckenzie31 from Very Happy I am very happy with my new immersion blender! This product puts out a ton of power. The adjustable settings are a nice feature. The light is also helpful. I have used this to make my daily smoothies, and literally within seconds starting on the lowest and finishing on the highest setting my smoothie is the perfect consistency. I also have used it to blend up my natural peanut butter which naturally separates, it works wonderfully. You can easily change the speed on the top. It is very easy to use and wash. I highly recommend buying this immersion blender. Not only does it have a sleek design, but it is also powerful. I received this immersion blender for free in exchange for my honest review.Date published: 2016-12-12Rated 5 out of 5 by Travallar from Great blender This is a great product! I love the light and the only thing I don't like is that there are no attachments!Date published: 2016-11-16Rated 5 out of 5 by FoodieChef1205 from WORKS AS ADVERTISED! I was making soup and need to emulsify leeks and mushrooms. Very easy to use, no splattering. This is a good investment.Date published: 2016-06-27Rated 2 out of 5 by po52 from Sounds like the elite immersion blender, but... This OXO immersion blender sounds like the absolute best - on paper. That’s why I bought it. But it splatters all over my stove and counter when I'm blending (this is my biggest issue), it's hard to get apart ( it sticks and when it does finally come off, I'm using so much pull, there's more splatter, yikes), the light makes very little difference, and I have to unplug it after each use because of the light. It’s too weighty for me, plus the shaft vibrates like an out-of-alligned car when I lift it off the bottom while running. And I think it's the most expensive immersion blender for the home user. I'm going back to Cuisinart.Date published: 2016-03-02Rated 5 out of 5 by PismoB from OXO Immersion This is my first immersion blender and I researched several models and brands before selecting this model. After reading reviews on other websites, I selected the OXO for one main reason, the silicone coated base. Because of it, there is no scratching my pricy le crueset pots. I also love the led light feature, and the rubber handle. I will be making plenty of soups this winter with the great tool.Date published: 2016-02-11Rated 5 out of 5 by supershopper from It's an OXO - no need to say more! This is my first immersion blender. I wasn't sure that I would use it a lot, but when I saw that OXO had one, I got it. I use it more than I thought I would. It is typical OXO quality. Heavy, well-constructed and gets the job done.Date published: 2015-11-23
