- Use & Care
- Ideal for gas and electric cooktops.
- Because the copper pot is unlined and highly reactive to ingredients, it should be used only for cooking with sugar – never for general cooking.
- Allow pot to cool before washing.
- Hand-wash; dry immediately with a soft cloth.
- Avoid using steel wool, steel scouring pads or harsh detergents.
- Copper will develop a rich patina over time. This will not affect the pan's cooking performance. To keep the exterior looking new, use a copper polish or a combination of lemon and salt.

- More about Mauviel
In 1830, Ernest Mauviel established his namesake cookware company in Villedieu-les-Poêles in Normandy. The village had a long history of outstanding metalwork; the locals were considered experts in the craft. Today, much of the manufacturing is still done by hand using traditional processes passed down through generations of copper makers. True to France’s rich culinary history, Mauviel 1830 is a favorite in professional kitchens, where copper’s quick, even heat conductivity is essential for making delicate sauces and other French classics. Mauviel now also offers stainless-steel collections crafted with the same attention to detail as its traditional copper cookware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bfac from copper pan I love it, but understand if many would not. one must scrub completely the copper to clean the pot each time...so expect to do that. These are copper inside and out. The handle is copper too, I plan to build my own wooden extension handle with a longer hold and some sort of hook to be able to hang up high. The Copper is so thick and beautiful.Date published: 2016-12-29Rated 5 out of 5 by RosieB from My favorite saucepan for sugar This copper pot is great when boiling sugar and water to make a syrup. It came to temperature in half the time I spent trying to do so in a regular all clad tri-ply. I highly recommend this pot especially if you do a lot of sugar work.Date published: 2016-03-18Rated 5 out of 5 by CVchef from Melts like a dream After using a copper sugar pot in an culinary class, I was eager to find one of my own and this product does not disappoint.Date published: 2012-12-11
