- More about Le Creuset
The first Le Creuset foundry opened in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France, and specialized in cast-iron cookware. The cast-iron pieces are still made at the original factory, using the traditional techniques of hand forging and casting in individual sand molds. The brightly pigmented porcelain-enamel glaze that first set Le Creuset cookware apart from other cast-iron cookware now comes in a wide range of traditional and contemporary colors. In 2013, Le Creuset began producing innovative stainless-steel cookware in Portugal with lids that incorporate the same signature three-ring design as the company’s classic cast-iron pieces. This stainless-steel collection was awarded the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Award for product design.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Chrismama from Oval Baker I bought this baker about a year ago. I have several dutch oven products - dutch oven, covered casserole dishes, etc. - probably a dozen pieces. I decided to bake salmon @ 450. I wrapped it in aluminum foil and after 10 minutes in the oven, the baker literally cracked in halfDate published: 2017-03-19Rated 1 out of 5 by Michelle from Questionable Quality I received this piece about year ago as a gift. I was very happy with it until it broke in half after only a year of use. This is after very careful use, cleaning, and storage. I never dropped it or damaged it in any way. I have no explanation for how or why it broke after only a year.Date published: 2017-03-16Rated 5 out of 5 by Pamela8 from Love it! I received the 9 1/2" dish as a wedding gift and am so glad I did. When I first removed it from the packaging, it was smaller than I anticipated. However, as I began making dishes with it, it ended up being the perfect size for my needs. It will typically fit a side dish made for 2-4 people. I also love that the dish is pretty enough to go from the oven to the table for serving. What was also unexpected was the ease of cleaning it! I made a super cheesy gooey dish the first time I used it and anticipated an overnight soak to get it clean. Much to my surprise, it was so easy to clean with soap and water...no hard scrubbing necessary! Overall, it is a great piece to add to your kitchen.Date published: 2017-02-23Rated 2 out of 5 by NoVAMomm from Ridiculously small The Williams-Sonoma description says the 9 1/2" Le Creuset Oval Gratin is 11 3/4" x 7 1/4" x 2 1/4" high overall. What they don't share is that the sides are sloped and the actual bottom measurement of this dish is 8" x 5". It's TINY. Williams-Sonoma lists this as 9 1/2" but the Le Creuset calls it 1-quart / 1-2 servings, which is a much better way to go in my opinion. Williams-Sonoma, please add quart sizes to your descriptions! If you can use a dish that only holds 1-quart, this is a beautiful one. And W-S customer service was excellent in taking this back.Date published: 2015-11-20Rated 4 out of 5 by DeedeeV from Product good but service was even better This is a very good and gratin dish and cooks everything well. But I want to commend W & S for the service: the first dish arrived broken in many pieces. I called customer service and was told to toss it and a replacement would be sent right away. It was and was in fine shape. No hassle, no forms to fill out and no questions. I had taken pictures of the broken dish to prove that it had arrived in that condition but none of that was necessary. GREAT SERVICE!Date published: 2015-05-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Fitzi from Outstanding I own three pieces of Le Creuset Stoneware, two of which are oval gratins. I have absolutely nothing but praise for their performance and durability. They are the easiest pieces to clean that I own. I have had them for years and about to order the roaster. They are stacked, no streaks and I often use stainless utensils. As for color, I like to be eclectic so love an array of their beautiful shades.Date published: 2015-03-07Rated 3 out of 5 by PearlEgirl from Pretty on the outside I ordered 2 of the smaller oval gratin dishes. One was the Lapsis and the other was Palm. I was disappointed that the inside color of these dishes are not even close to the same color, one is more tan and the other is more gray. The Lapsis was made in Thailand and the Palm was made in China. They do work well for what I need them for.Date published: 2014-11-11Rated 5 out of 5 by crablegs from Favorite Rice Dish I loved this dish. I made a rice dish. It was good.Date published: 2014-05-14
