Vintage French Sap Pot

A century ago, terra-cotta pots like this one were used to collect sap from trees throughout the French countryside. In the winter, wine growers would drop a hot coal in each sap-filled pot and place them under the grapevines to fend off frost damage. We think they're perfectly sized for growing herbs and starting seeds, and the visual evidence of their utilitarian history only adds to their charm.
