- More about de Buyer
The de Buyer family has been making cookware in the French town of Val-d’Ajol since 1830. The family-owned company originally crafted pots and cauldrons for cooking over a live fire using iron ore extracted from the region. Pairing modern technology with a timeless attention to quality, De Buyer still creates cookware in the classic French shapes and materials traditionally used in professional kitchens. In addition to copper and iron collections, the company also offers stainless-steel and nonstick lines to meet the needs of today’s home cooks.
Rated 2 out of 5 by WilliamsSonomaJohn from Just didn't like it! I was not happy with it. It just didn't have the right "feel" to it. I also didn't like the fact that you had to turn and turn the end knob to adjust the thickness, not just one or two turns, but MANY! I'm not sure I liked the V slicing either, I think I prefer the straight cutter. At any rate, I returned it and went back to using my previous mandolin (different manufacturer).Date published: 2016-05-25Rated 5 out of 5 by bob17404 from Nice slicer Very easy to adjust the blade for thickness. It has been very useful.Date published: 2016-04-22Rated 4 out of 5 by cgadkins from Cuts like a pro! Does what it is supposed to do- I think I just need to work on my own technique of using it. I only have some trouble when I get to the end of the veggie and I don't get the same grip and pressure so I have to take it off and dice it up myself. Otherwise, works well and stores easily! Also love that it can be thrown in the dishwasher!Date published: 2015-07-24Rated 5 out of 5 by nancyz from after 5 purchases this one works! works as promised,,very pleased after many purchases from wsDate published: 2015-06-29Rated 5 out of 5 by gmkathy2 from Just what I needed Great for slicing thick to very thin. Used it recently for 1/4" slices of eggplant, and for very thin slices of onions for soup. SOOO much easier than slicing with a knife, even a very sharp one. Got this on sale, very happy with it. It doesn't do all the fancy stuff, it's just a plain old slicer which is exactly what I wanted. Easily adjustable knob to vary slice thickness.Date published: 2015-01-29Rated 5 out of 5 by 6gmillers from Love it!!` Use it all the time no assembly or parts, just pull it out and use it. Unlike my previous one, this one allows you to get very thin slices (or thick) with just the turn of a dial.Date published: 2014-09-17Rated 5 out of 5 by JudgeJodi from My Favorite I have three mandolines. This one is by far the least expensive and the one I most often use. There is nothing complicated about it. It simply slices at any thickness I ask it to with a mere dial twist, cleans up easily with the sink sprayer and stores away using less space than the other two. It is so very user friendly. I love it.Date published: 2014-07-28Rated 3 out of 5 by emilydc from Decent; not worth the money I was really looking forward to the Kobra serving as an upgrade from my non-adjustable Kuhn Rikon ceramic blade slicer. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed and returned this tool. It wasn't as sturdy as I expected and didn't cut nearly as cleanly or elegantly. The legs/feet should be a bit longer in my opinion, so that you have more clearance over bowls. Not worth the price!Date published: 2014-07-13
