Mushroom Tart Recipe

Bake the tart shell
Preheat an oven to 400°F.

On a floured work surface, roll out the dough into a 12-inch round. Fit into a 9-inch round tart pan and trim the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch overhang. Fold the overhang back over itself and pinch to create a sturdy edge. Pierce the dough all over with a fork. Freeze for 15 minutes.

Bake the pastry shell until the edges are lightly golden, about 15 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool.

Make the filling and finish the tart
In a large fry pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the mushrooms and shallot and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Add the crème fraîche and oregano, season with salt and pepper, and stir to combine.

Spread the mushroom mixture in the pastry shell. Bake until the crust is golden, about 15 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool briefly. Remove the pan rim, cut the tart into wedges and serve. Serves 6.

  • Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth Every Penny! I love this thing. I had and used a Prep 11 for about 8 years.and it was time for an upgrade. Last night I used the main bowl for chopping veggies for stew and mashing Planatains for Mofongo. Turned out perfect. Washed with dishwasher with ease. I was worried at first because this unit is so large that the bowl might not fit so well on my top rack, but it fit perfectly. Today, I made pizza dough with the recipe from the instruction book and it turned out PERFECT. So easy and fast. I also sliced ham and tomatoes as well as grated mozzarella cheese for toppings. I took apart the top (removed the seal) so I could wash it by hand. Although the dishwasher did a fine job, I just wanted to make sure I could do it easily. And it was absolutely fine. It doesn't hop around the counter like my prep 11 did. Its very quiet considering the 1500 watt motor. I am so glad I upgraded.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2.0 is a big improvement BUT NEEDS A DICING KIT Bought the food processor just before the 2.0 came out. Complained like crazy and got Cuisinart to switch it to the 2.0. The problem with pieces of food falling through the finger holes was very annoying, but is now fixed. It would be nice if Cuisinart supported this food processor with more optional attachments--ESPECIALLY THE NEW DICING KIT.. I have never had a problem cleaning the lid. I always place it in the top rack of the dishwasher with the gasket towards the bottom. All the little shreds of food are always gone, when I unpack the dishwasher.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bigger NOT Better I bought this machine 7 or 8 years ago and retired it yesterday and am eager to start using my much less expensive Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY 14-Cup Food Processor. Cleaning the lid was a huge problem. The rubber can't be removed so despite my best efforts, I now have a lid with 8 years of food pieces, oil, sweet and savory. YUK! I replaced my machine because the electronic buttons no longer worked. It is like they are stuck on so the only control I had was pushing the lid on and off. This is a bummer given the cost of the machine, but that isn't my biggest complaint. As I gathered all of the parts and pieces of the defunct machine, I realized that I hadn't used 95% of them. Those two smaller bowls - maybe I used them a handful of times. All of the disks, I have used them a few times. The 16 cup size is just too big. When I bought the 16-cup Elite, I wanted the best. I now realize that best is not simply defined by the most expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big and powerful I have had my Cuisinart Elite 2.0 16-Cup Food Processor for one month. So far I love it. It is big, powerful, and sits nicely on the kitchen counter under the upper cabinet. As with other comments, the grating function does allow thick slivers of the food being grated to slip between the lid and side of disc. My old Cuisinart did this too and it is a minor issue. The improvements in this model far outweigh the limitations. The seal under the lid is easily removed for cleaning and keeps liquids from spilling out of the bowl during use. The 16 cup size supports making large batches of sauces, salad dressings, and pestos which I preserve for later use. And the powerful motor makes use a breeze. I love cooking for other people and my old Cuisinart is about worn out after 30 years of dinner parties for family and friends. So far I am thrilled with my purchase!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware! I have had nothing but trouble with this machine. After the first break, and paying for it to be returned, it worked for a while; but after going through the expensive process when it broke again, I quit. I now have a very expensive broken machine sitting in a box in my garage. I would never buy a product made by this company again. I wouldn't even give this one star.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bad performer I recently bought the 16 cup Elite food processor. Easy it was to use, but flawed. Example: shredding carrots. I peeled and stacked the feed tube, applied even pressure and only about 2/3 of the carrots were grated; long pieces of carrot got stuck between the blade and walls of the bowl, where there is a gap. Same thing, and same problem with smaller feed tube and larger shredding blade. I ended up with a bowl of grated carrots (and I wasn't that thrilled with the texture - kind of undefined of either size shred), and giant long pieces of unshredded carrots with about one third of their thickness left. Clean-up not easy - pieces of food get stuck in hard to clean places. Could really be a problem keeping locked-in moisture or unseen food particles. I do not recommend this product

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cuisinart Does Not Support This Discontinued Model Bought this as a present for my son a few months ago. He primarily uses it to make large batches of salsa, so the feeder lid assembly is an unnecessary cleaning task. Searched the internet for a flat cover, but couldn't find one, so I called Cuisinart Customer Service. The rep explained that the unit is a "Williams Sonoma special" that is no longer manufactured or supported, so it is not even listed on the Cuisinart website. The Cuisinart rep stated that there are no available accessories and that the FP-14 cup unit's accessories and parts do not fit. Very disappointing to find out that this is an "orphaned" model. I have a 30 year old DLC7Pro (a gift) that I can still get new parts for - so I thought it would be a great idea to purchase a "high end" Cuisinart unit as an enduring gift; apparently not, in this case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from kitchen workhorse I did my research and waited until I could afford to buy this beauty; the wait was worth it. This food processor speaks to quality engineering, an awareness of what the machine will be used for. I have used it to make dough, to grate cheeses, to slice vegetables, and each time I am impressed. It is heavy and solid which suites me fine. I appreciate the modification in this model to make cleaning easier. All good.
