End-Grain Counter Block

Crafted by hand in Vermont, our hardwood boards resemble the enormously thick butcher blocks found in old-style meat markets. The secret to their strength lies in the construction, with the wood grain vertical to the cutting surface. They will endure years of chopping, slicing and dicing yet are gentle on knife blades. On the buffet table, the blocks provide rustic presentation for cheeses, breads and pastries. Cut-out depressions make it easy to grasp and lift the boards. Rub the wood periodically with mineral oil to keep it in prime condition. Square block is 12" sq., 1 3/4" thick. Rectangular block is 17" x 11" x 1 3/4" thick. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.
