Our authentic sauce simplifies preparing rich, savory coq au vin, an old favorite of French cooks. Its all-natural ingredients include full-bodied red wine, veal stock, earthy cremini mushrooms and traditional seasonings, long-simmered to achieve delicious depth and complexity. Simply follow the included recipes to combine the base and chicken pieces in a slow cooker or Dutch oven, simmer and enjoy.

- Cabernet Sauvignon red wine, cremini mushrooms, red onions, veal and beef base (veal stock [concentrated veal broth, water], beef stock [concentrated beef broth, water, salt], seasoning [hydrolyzed soy and wheat protein, soy lecithin, yeast extract, cocoa powder, spice extractives], mirepoix stock [celery juice, carrot juice, onion juice], tomato paste [tomato, water, citric acid], corn syrup solids, canola oil, garlic concentrate, mushroom concentrate), carrots, celery, tomato paste, olive oil, unbleached all-purpose flour (unbleached hard wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), parsley, distilled vinegar, garlic, thyme, black pepper, ground bay leaves.

For an additional charge of $17.50 per address, we can expedite delivery to most destinations. Orders received by 9:00 p.m., Eastern time, Monday through Thursday will arrive the next business day; orders placed Friday through Sunday will arrive on the following Tuesday.

This sauce is very thin, however, with none of that savory taste or luscious mouth feel. Not much added time at all and with a side of noodles the dish is delicious and the sharp acidic flavor out of the bottle is gone. Added fresh carrots and shallots and mushrooms; added 1/4 cup cream sherry (I plan to use cognac next time) increasing the depth of flavor. Thickened sauce with butter and flower mashed. Delicious result. The first two were so-so. I used this one in my slow cooker with changes based on my experiences with the two other varieties. I increased the amount of chicken by 50% as there was enough sauce to do so. You could even double the meat if you can get it all in the cooker. I added a layer of baby carrots to the cooker first and instead of pearl onions (which made an earlier recipe too sour), I added two regular onions cut into chunks. I used boneless, skinless thighs. And finally, the juice was very runny when the dish was cooked, so after I spooned out the meat and veggies into storage containers, I thickened the runny sauce with 2-3 tablespoons of corn starch. I served Coq au Vin last night at a dinner party for my friends and they RAVED about it! I previously read a few of the other reviews and added 3/4 cup red wine (Cab. Sauv.) to the mix along with 1TBSP minced garlic. The combination was terrific! I served the dish over hot buttered noodles and voila', a wonderful Coq au Vin dish was born.
