Rated 1 out of 5 by CJP77 from Compost Pail We had this bucket for 2 years and really liked it. Unfortunately, it started to rust on the bottom and leaking. At first, my husband thought it was from the kitchen sink, until he experienced the leak first hand. Really too bad, it so cute and a good size.Date published: 2016-08-20Rated 1 out of 5 by asdavis74 from Doesn't Last - Cheap Steel As someone else has stated, the metal is cheap. Had the pail for about two years, taken care of it and it started leaking a couple of months ago. There are two pin holes in hte bottom. Expected better.Date published: 2016-05-18Rated 1 out of 5 by RuralCook from Cheap China Steel I was happy with this pail until tonight when I discovered a pin hole in the bottom. I've only had the pail about year and am very disappointed. I've taken good care of the pail, rinsing or washing it out on a daily basis and keeping it dry. Stainless steel should last a very, very long time. I have heard others talk about how the steel made in China is very cheap and they are right. I will not be buying another one of these pails.Date published: 2015-03-11Rated 5 out of 5 by BarbInVa from terrific kitchen compost pail I got this as a gift for a friend, and she has told me that she loves it. It's nicer looking than many others she's seen, and the quality is excellent.Date published: 2015-01-14Rated 1 out of 5 by toots756 from great size, poor material This was a wedding gift though we registered for the white enamel, we received the stainless steel bin. The size was great, it fit under the counter and could be used for a week or so (2 adults in house) until contents made it to the compost in the yard. We used it for 2 months, and rust began to show up on the sides and bottom of the pail. I returned it last weekend and the store associate began to try to scrub off the rust, she was not able to scrub away the rust and accepted my return. Off to find a new one.Date published: 2014-12-17Rated 2 out of 5 by Kalacu from Love the design..too bad it will leak After one year, the bottom of the pail will develop pin holes. Too bad, beautiful design, no smell, nice size. Funny, I may buy again, but I know it has a short life! I did caulk the bottom, and that has helped seal the holes.Date published: 2014-11-09Rated 5 out of 5 by starbuckmom from simple and odorless I very much like the simplicity of this pail; I have it on top of my cabinet and there is no odor coming from it.Date published: 2014-08-15Rated 2 out of 5 by Berningwater from Until Rust Do Us Part Our favorite wedding gift by far was the stainless steel compost pail with the charcoal filters that really work! I am happy to report that the pail made it to our first wedding anniversary before rusting through. We were really REALLY disappointed as we cook regularly (with williams sonoma cookbooks and cookware, of course) and we are a composting home. There should be a warning that the pail will only last about a year and the manufacturers should have used a thicker steel bottom. The inside began to rust after about 6 months (see pic) which didn't bother us until a tiny but determined hole appeared in the bottom and it started slowly leaking nasty compost juice and leaving rust marks on our kitchen counter. We really do miss it as it's by far the most attractive compost bin we've used, and the handle was convenient...but that rust...that hole...kind of a dealbreaker...Date published: 2013-09-09
