Rated 1 out of 5 by Matt from Not worth the hassle Bought this recently and used it, or attempted to, for three different things in the last week — short ribs, spaghetti sauce, and chicken stock. Both the short ribs and the spaghetti sauce turned out well, but both times the cooker was finicky and required resetting the lid. It had a tendency to get hot, but took quite a while to come to pressure. Both of those meals ended up being served considerably later than anticipated. In an effort to give it one more shot, I set out to make chicken stock on the side while making dinner. After more than fifteen minutes of appearing to not come to pressure, it began to auto-release from a suddenly detected ~9 psi to nothing. I ended up dumping the stock into my dutch oven and moving it to the stove. Other notes: I found the controls on the machine to be well laid out and extremely intuitive. I found it a little bit strange that the pot itself didn't have a completely flat bottom. When sautéing for the short ribs and tomato sauce, I noticed the oil ran from the center to the edges of the pot. It's possible I just got some kind of a dud unit, but it's not worth it to me to try to make this work. I'll be returning mine.Date published: 2017-05-22Rated 5 out of 5 by Icantreallycook from If I can use this, anyone can I am a busy professional and probably get to cook dinner for my family only twice a week, so I really appreciate the speed and flavor in the meals it enables me to create. And the ease of cleaning it. I've made in less time to get my child ready for school, beef chili, beef stews, minestrone, messy lasagna, chicken teriyaki to name a few, much to my family's delight and praises. This pressure cooker is making me look really good and because of that, I am going to categorize myself as an intermediate-level cook.Date published: 2017-05-02Rated 2 out of 5 by RedhairedFlCook from Disappointed I had high hopes for the Breville pressure cooker. I loved the idea of all the different functions. However, the pressure cooker takes entirely too long to reach full pressure. I have been using the Cuisinart Electric Pressure cooker for years and it comes to full high pressure in half the time. I called Breville support and was told it could take up to 45 minutes to come to high pressure. If it takes that long to come to pressure -,it defeats the idea of cooking quickly in a pressure cooker. This pressure cooker will be returned.Date published: 2017-04-01Rated 1 out of 5 by evjk from Not meant to be... Have maybe a half dozen pressure cookers. Stovetop and electric. Love them. Very excited about programmable release on this model. Sadly, never saw it in action as the first time I used it, it died after reaching pressure. Completely dead. Getting so tired of declining quality and durability of products. Breville ain't what it used to be. That, and the lid is poorly conceived, especially for right-handed cooks.Date published: 2017-03-04Rated 2 out of 5 by Patcee from Loved It Until It Died During the 8th Month I should be receiving a replacement unit soon under my warranty claim, but there's something all buyers should know. Although it says the nonstick inner cooking pot is dishwasher safe, I've found myself with a grey substance all over my hands every time I've taken it out of the dishwasher. It comes from the painted exterior of the nonstick vessel. There's been no damage whatsoever to the nonstick interior, but I don't believe it should be advertised as safe to put in the dishwasher. I must say I absolutely loved this unit when it was working and I hope the replacement lasts longer than the (only) 4 months it will be under warranty which is the number of months left on my original's warranty.Date published: 2017-03-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Pat W from Worth Every Penny This is a fabulous machine and delivers as it promises. You need to read the use manual to ensure you know how to operate it, especially the fast/pressure cooking. It is not difficult but the first few times, you need to be able to see exactly what you are doing. The food comes out in 40 minutes like you have cooked all day. I used to make a pot roast in the oven but never again. The meat was fork tender and the juices made a delectable gravy when thickened. Like others, I was hesitant to spend so much money but it is worth the price to have the ease of use and the tasty food it produces.Date published: 2017-03-01Rated 5 out of 5 by 2legit2nit from Well worth buying! I love the Fast Slow Pro. I use it constantly. I've used all the features, and have even made dishes that started out with the pressure cooking feature and ended with the slow cooker. The sear and reduce features make using it a snap - no more dirtying a pan to saute onions and garlic for the slow cooker. The job the pressure cooker does on greens and beans is great - tender but not mushy, intact leaves, toothsome texture. Best of all it is super easy to figure out how to use it. The only thing I'd change is to make it easier to clean the lid. I have a fully stocked kitchen, so something like this is a real splurge, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat!Date published: 2017-01-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Gusta from Great product! Love, love, and love! So convenient to sear, pressure cook, and hold temperature in same pot. Oh and you can slow cook as well. Seems really well made, hope it lasts a long time. I store when not in use but wouldn't have to as it looks nice.Date published: 2017-01-03
