Black Summer Truffles

Summer truffles (Tuber aestivum) are among the mildest and most delicate of all truffle varieties. The black truffles are expertly harvested using Italian cavatori (truffle-hunting dogs), then shipped to you fresh and chilled. Characterized by a subtle, earthy aroma and delicate nutty flavor, they elevate all sorts of dishes from the simple to the sublime. Shave over pasta and risotto—or enhance standard favorites like mac-and-cheese or mashed potatoes.

Receiving Instructions

• The truffles are shipped fresh with ice packs and directions for storage. Upon receipt, wrap each truffle individually in a paper towel or tissue paper, place in an airtight container, and refrigerate. Fresh truffles are best consumed fresh within 10 days of delivery date but can be frozen for up to 1 year.

Preparation

• Shave fresh truffles over pasta or risotto, special egg dishes or grilled meats.
