  • Large, deep yellow Moorpark apricots (Prunus armeniaca) are wonderful for canning, drying or making jam. Or try baking them in tarts and crisps. Prized for their sweetness, full flavor and large size, the fruit is loaded with vitamin A and C and healthy antioxidants. The fast-growing tree is nicely sized for containers and garden beds.

    • Zones 4–9.
    • Suitable for container or ground planting.
    • Grows 8'–10' high, 8'–10' wide.
    • Requires full sun.
    • Pink-tinged white blossoms.
    • Fruits from July to late August.
    • Yields approx. 3 bushels at maturity (3 to 4 years).
    • Agricultural regulations prohibit shipment to AZ, CA, OR, WA, Puerto Rico and Hawaii.
    • Approx. 1 1/2 years old, 3' high at shipping.
    • Arrives in a 1.65-gallon pot.
    • Self-pollinator; does not require another apricot tree nearby to bear fruit, but planting more than two trees will increase each tree's yield.

  • Care

    • Planting: Plant in full sun at same depth as container (approx. 6"–8" for 2gal. container). Space 15' apart.
    • Watering: Water the tree well as soon as you plant it, and then at least once a week for the first year after planting. A slow, root-saturating, one-hour trickle once a week is recommended for a new tree. The watering schedule should be adjusted accordingly if it rains or is very dry. Water twice weekly during dry spells.
    • Agricultural regulations prohibit shipment to AZ, CA, OR, WA, Puerto Rico and Hawaii.
